In celebration of Belgium’s birthday on July 21, Bier Markt is inviting the people of Toronto into their restaurants to go behind the bar and learn the art of pouring three of Belgium’s most iconic beers including Stella Artois Lager, Hoegaarden White Ale and Leffe Blond Abbey Ale.

On Belgian National Day, guests will have the unique chance to master pouring rituals such as ‘purifying’ of the glassware, ‘sacrificing’ of the first beer poured from the tap to the ‘beheading’ of the beer for the ideal head of foam. During the festivities, guests can also enjoy delicious Belgian-inspired cuisine and live entertainment.

$4 per person per 33cl pour, guests can go behind a unique, portable bar to learn the multi-step Belgian Pouring Rituals for each of Belgium’s three most iconic brews.

Based on a first come, first serve basis, guests will be able to keep their glass once they’ve mastered the art of the perfect Belgian pour. Festivities for the night also include complementary Belgian-style hors d’oevures and entertainment with a DJ and sax player.

Available now and leading up to the big celebration of Belgian National Day, Bier Markt will also offer Belgium-inspired Food and Beer Flights. For $10, guests can enjoy a 15cl glass of Stella Artois Lager, Hoegaarden White Ale and Leffe Blond Abbey Ale. They can pair this with a Belgian Food Flight for $22, created by Bier Markt’s Executive Chef, Michael Cipollo, and sample a Mini Croque Monsieur (paired with the Stella Artois Lager), Grilled Prawns (paired with the Hoegaarden White Ale) and a Mini Braised Short Rib (paired with the Leffe Blond Abbey Ale).
